The maiden 2005 vintage as well as the 2006 Sauvignon Blanc were produced solely from grapes grown on the farm. The grapes were vinified by award-winning winemaker John Loubser of neighbouring Steenberg Estate, renowned for their highly acclaimed Steenberg Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. As from our 2007 harvest, Karl Lambour has been the winemaker. Karl holds invaluable experience gained from time spent in St Emilion where he had the opportunity to pay technical visits to many of the great wineries in the area – Chateaux Cheval Blanc, Angelus, Lafite and Pichon Comtesse to name a few. Our single red wine, the Constantia Glen Bordeaux blend, will probably only be ready for release in 2009.

The Sauvignon Blanc has shown great promise with a Gold medal at the SA Young Wine show, 4½ stars in the 2006, 2007, 2008 and now 2009 John Platter Wine Guide, a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge, a silver medal at the 2006 Decanter Wine awards, 90 points in Winespectator magazine for the 2006 vintage and now 91 points for the 2007 vintage. Strong consumer demand has ensured allocations into selected top end local and international restaurants, the balance being sold through boutique retailers.

Each vintage of our Sauvignon blanc shows a clear "fingerprint" of intense varietal characteristics which defines this classically formed Constantia Sauvignon Blanc, in which tropical fruit is integrated with intense minerality.
